Teaching Tip: Start with Sounds, Not Letters
When teaching Arabic to beginners, focus on helping students master the sounds of Arabic letters before worrying about perfect letter formation. Many students get overwhelmed trying to write beautifully while still struggling to pronounce correctly.
Try this approach: Spend the first few lessons on listening and speaking. Have students repeat sounds, then words, then simple phrases. Once they're comfortable with how Arabic sounds, they'll find it much easier to connect those familiar sounds to the written letters.
This builds confidence and creates a stronger foundation for reading and writing later. Remember
- in their native language, students could speak long before they could write!
