The Wyoming Music Educators Association (WMEA) is the professional association for music teachers in the State of Wyoming. Members include Kindergarten – 12th grade, higher education, and private music instructors. Public, private and parochial teachers are represented in the active, collegiate, and retired membership. WMEA provides professional development for music teachers, provides opportunities for all music students to explore and excel in the arts, and serves as an advocate for music education in the schools of Wyoming. WMEA clinics and festivals take place in the six regional districts of the state and include band, choir and orchestra. WMEA partners with the Wyoming High School Activities Association to provide student experiences in All-State Honor Ensembles (Band, Choir, Orchestra), State Marching Band Festival and State String Festival. Other WMEA projects include the annual professional development conference for music teachers, with professional teaching and graduate credits possible, and the tri-annual journal publication, the Windsong. WMEA is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization and tax exempt in the state of Wyoming.

Welcome to the Team!

Torrington Middle School is excited to welcome Preston Pohlman as our new Band Director!

Preston joins TMS with three years of experience leading band programs in South Dakota. A graduate of the University of South Dakota with a degree in Music Education, he has worked with students across grades 5-12 and directed a variety of ensembles, including marching band, jazz band, concert band, and pep band.

Throughout his career, Preston has earned a reputation for setting high expectations while building meaningful connections with students. He believes strong relationships and a positive classroom environment create opportunities for students to grow both as musicians and as people.

As we continue to strengthen opportunities for students at TMS, we are excited for Preston to lead our band program and build on the traditions that make music an important part of the Blazer experience. We are grateful to have him joining our team and look forward to the impact he will make in our schools and community.
