We are very excited to be celebrating our 55th Annual Kinser Jazz Festival. We will again be streaming all student performances on our Casper College Music Department YouTube Channel. Each day will have a different link so be sure to share it with your students’ families. As always, we welcome people watching in person but realize that not everyone can get to Casper during the week. Ensembles are very welcome to hang around as long as they are able and hear the hard work of other groups. Additionally, we will leave the videos up on the channel, if someone wants to watch later. We will not be streaming the headliner concert.

A little about COVID: While it’s not mandated and will not be enforced, we would like to politely request all visitors to social distance from other parties and wear a mask as they are able. We will have a few available at the front desk if you, your students, or students’ parents forget. We have people coming from all over the country and we would like to keep this event as safe as possible. Additionally, there will be hand sanitizer available throughout the building. Hello Directors!
It was great to see so many of you at the Kinser Jazz Festival. I think it was our smoothest year! Thanks for bringing your groups and thanks for having them so well prepared.

I am writing today to ask you to remind your students of our upcoming Music Activity Scholarship application deadline which is February 15. This scholarship is open to majors of any variety (and we have 140 different majors at Casper College). Additionally, most areas, including music, have some pretty substantial scholarships in addition to the Music Activity scholarship. To apply, have your students complete this form: https://form.jotform.com/kcoe/2021-2022-music-scholarship-app and submit a brief video. The video can be any prepared piece, All-State audition music, All-NW audition music, or something they are studying in your class or with a private teacher. We can also provide suggestions, if needed.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students will need to register for applied lessons (at least 1 credit) and two ensembles (wind ensemble/college band/jazz ensemble for the “band” students, collegiate chorale/chamber singers/CCC for the vocalists, and chamber orchestra/jazz ensemble/chamber music for strings, guitar, and piano) as well as maintain a 2.0GPA or better.

Students need not be music majors to receive the Activity Scholarship. If they played/sang in band/choir/orchestra in high school, we would love to hear from them. Even if they aren’t 100% on coming to CC, please encourage them to audition anyway.

We will still accept late applications but we will start awarding them after Feb. 15. When they are gone, they are gone.

Man, oh, man, was the 2021 Kinser Jazz Festival awesome! THANK YOU to all of the directors and their students who performed. It was a fantastic festival that the Kinser Jazz Festival committee was grateful to organize. It was the first time most of the participating ensembles had had to perform live in front of an audience in the last 12 months.
Thank you for tuning in to our daily livestreams or attending the festival in person to support Wyoming's middle, junior, and high school jazz musicians and vocalists!
