Performing a smooth reload, especially when under pressure, requires a lot of reps. There are multiple different little things people can do to get a faster reload but at the end of the day the goal is the same: get your gun back into the fight as soon as you can.

I posted a video a couple days ago talking about being brilliant in the basics. The drill I was doing was simple: draw and fire 2. That's it. The goal was to focus on building a good draw and good follow up shot.

A lot of people commented saying there was a ton "missing." And they're right. That's because the point of that drill was focusing on very specific things. So I have made this video to showcase a little more.

First, you never know how many rounds you'll need to stop a threat. I thought 5 was a decent number and throwing in a reload and 5 more rounds just allows me to showcase some more skills that cam be trained.

A lot of people said I need to move while I draw. This is something I absolutely train. If the environment allows it, it's not a bad practice at all. The same goes for when you reload. Don't just be a static target.

Another thing pointed out was that I didn't scan my environment or confirm the threat was down when I finished. Again, I wasn't training that. But I have demonstrated that here. Track your target to the ground, then scan your left, back to your target, right, back to target, and the get a decent look to your rear. Then reholster.

All of this is good training. But it doesn't mean much if we can't get a good grasp on the baeics. So be brilliant in the basics and build upon that.
