We are excited to share the first edition of our FW Educator Spotlight! This monthly spotlight was designed to highlight the accomplishments of our FW Educators and share their insight into student supervision.

This month, we are featuring Genie Hensley, COTA/L! Genie has been practicing OT since 2016 and has supervised students for the past 8 years. She currently provides OT services at Ropes and Roses Therapy, a unique, outdoor nature-based setting specializing in Mental Health and Pediatrics.

Genie's career accomplishments she is most proud of include Hippotherapy Level II, being a part of the partnership with Karol Santistevan, OTR/L to provide unique opportunities to the community, and being able to give back to the OT profession by serving on the WYOTA board.

Attached is a one-page flyer summarizing Genie's knowledge and areas of specialty, her FW Educator insights, FW supervision philosophy, and her advice for new FW Educators.

The Casper College OTA students participated in an engaging and interactive learning experience, educating approximately 90 high school students from across Wyoming. The students took part in an interdisciplinary simulation encompassing all health science programs and led an OTA simulation therapy scenario featuring an injured rodeo bronc rider. This was followed by a comprehensive day of instruction, where the students enlightened high school students, counselors, and admission representatives about the exceptional OT profession. Not everyone was in these pictures but they all were amazing!

Casper College partners with the University of Wyoming Assistive Technology Resources WATR to provide training to the community weekly. The students participated in training today on new technology devices to improve children’s community mobility, wheelchair selection, and uses of switches to improve their independence.
