☕️💙 SUNDAY TIP & SIP: 🎒✏️

Tomorrow is a BIG day for our Aquin Little Angels school-age kiddos as they head back to school in grades K–8...some Aquin, some elsewhere...we SEE you and support YOU! 🍎

Before they trade their full summer days at Little Angels for classrooms, backpacks and school schedules, we want them to know just how PROUD we are of them!

🌟 Thank you for jumping into new experiences with enthusiasm.
🌟 Thank you for being open to learning, trying and growing.
🌟 Thank you for the friendships you made and the kindness you showed.
🌟 Thank you for the fun, laughter and energy you brought to our days and often served as awesome role models to the littles younger than you at Aquin Little Angels!
🌟 And a special THANK YOU to our teachers and staff who cared for, encouraged, guided and created such a wonderful summer for our school-age kids. 💙

We are going to miss having you with us all day!

☕️ THIS WEEK’S TIP & SIP: Help Kids Make the Schedule Switch

Going from full summer days at the center to structured school days can be a BIG adjustment—even for older kids! A few simple things can help:

🎒 Talk through the new routine. Knowing what happens from wake-up to bedtime helps children feel prepared.

😴 Protect sleep. Earlier mornings require earlier evenings. Give bodies and brains time to adjust.

🥪 Fuel the day. A good breakfast, water and healthy snacks make long school days easier.

⏰ Allow extra time. Keep mornings as calm and predictable as possible, especially this first week.

💬 Expect some tiredness. Kids may be more emotional or quiet after school while they adjust. Give them a little downtime before asking lots of questions.

❤️ Keep it positive! Instead of only asking, “How was school?” try:

“What made you smile today?”
“What was something new you learned?”
“Who did you help—or who helped you?”

And to our school-age kiddos, we have one last challenge for you:

Take the same enthusiastic attitude you brought to learning, playing, exploring and growing with us this summer and carry it right through those school doors! 🌟

Be curious. Be kind. Try hard. Help others. Make new friends. And remember that learning can be an adventure wherever you are.

🍓 MAKE IT MONDAY | Healthy Summer Snacks! ☀️

Cool off with these simple, healthy snacks—perfect for toddlers and preschoolers!

🍓 Red, White & Blue Yogurt Cup
Layer plain or vanilla yogurt with chopped strawberries and gently smashed blueberries.

🍉 Watermelon Stars
Use a small cookie cutter to make watermelon stars. Add thinly sliced banana for a patriotic fruit plate!

🥒 All-American Snack Stackers
Top whole-grain crackers with cream cheese, thin cucumber slices and finely shredded cheese. (Don’t miss the garden fresh Iowa homegrown ones!)

Little hands can help wash, scoop, spread and arrange—making snack time a fun learning experience, too! ❤️🤍💙

Always cut foods into age-appropriate pieces and supervise children while eating.

Toddler tantrums are a normal part of development. Young children are still learning how to understand and manage their emotions—and their behavior is often their way of communicating.

🌟 KEY POINTS:

• Plan ahead for challenging moments.
• Offer two simple choices.
• Stay calm, patient and nearby.
• Name and acknowledge the feeling.
• Use humor or distraction when helpful.
• Set clear, gentle limits to keep everyone safe.

🎨 It All Starts with a Story! 📖 (Oh Mira Bella~how you inspired us!)

After reading Ballyhoo Bay, our little learners discovered how imagination, nature and creativity can come together through art. This playful story planted a tiny seed of inspiration—and from that seed, our own little artists began to bloom! 🌱🖌️

Ballyhoo Bay is a playful story about Mira Bella, an artist who teaches children, grown-ups and sea creatures to create art on the beach. When developers plan to replace their beloved beach with buildings, the community works together—using art and their voices—to help save it. It celebrates creativity, teamwork and caring for nature.

One wonderful book (AND wonderful teachers) can open the door to a whole world of creativity!
