Math is not about memorization or speed.
Real math—the kind that leads to deep understanding and confident thinking—takes time.
When we rush kids to perform, we’re not helping them “get ahead.” We’re building anxiety and confusion. And often, we’re teaching them to fear math rather than understand it.
At Cary Preparatory, we slow things down so students can think deeply, make connections, and grow into real problem solvers.
Because understanding can’t be rushed—and confidence can’t be crammed.

Over the past two weeks, I’ve had the chance to attend two Linked Women’s networking events—and I’m so glad I did.

It’s been such a gift to connect with other women who are building meaningful things, supporting each other, and showing up with honesty and heart.

She’s almost always curled up nearby while I work in my home office—planning, organizing, and dreaming up what’s next for Cary Preparatory. Her quiet presence reminds me that love and friendship show up in the simplest ways.

On August 9th, we’re hosting Math Discovery Day—a two hour hands-on, collaborative experience where students explore big ideas, engage in creative problem solving, and begin to see math in a whole new way.

It’s meaningful. It’s energizing. And it’s designed to build confidence while having fun.

Mindset Monday
Helping kids build a better relationship with math starts with how we think about it—and how we talk about it at home.
That’s why Cary Preparatory is offering a free parent workshop this summer focused on math mindset, confidence, and simple strategies to support your child’s growth.
The first session is Tuesday, June 17, and workshops continue every Tuesday through the end of July. Each session covers the same content, so you only need to attend once—but you're welcome to come back if you’d like a refresher or to join a different group.
A quick note about kids:
This workshop is designed for adults and centers around parent-focused conversation and learning. Children are welcome if needed, but the content isn’t geared toward them—and it may be tough for younger ones with shorter attention spans to stay engaged.
Seating is limited to 12 participants per session.
