For reference of the word “ICON” , THIS is the embodiment of that word. Icon of Indian cinema , the man who proved that true hero’s need not just be chocolate boys, but hero in real life to their families as well as to millions of people. “Handsome is as handsome does”. His screen presence lit up celluloid ! - as that respectful, strong handsome gentleman- who also knew how to treat the ladies right, this man who made over 300 films, over a glorious career spanning SIX decades! From heavy action to crazy comedy, socially sensitive subjects to lighthearted romance, his versatility stretched beyond horizons as he scaled the peaks of Bollywood with effortless ease. One thing that stood out - he staunchly refused to “buy” awards. He always maintained quiet dignity despite humility, “Trophies are never bought- but earned”
Dharmendra left us for his heavenly abode December 2025. He worked right up until the end, touching the lives of more than a BILLION people with his 6 decades working tirelessly, and incredible versatility, right from the black & white era of Bollywood to today’s AI digital, leaving his indelible mark in Bollywood. To date NO ONE single Indian actor can achieve this greatness. I watched his last movie “Ikkis” where despite failing health almost at 90 , he carried the film flat on his shoulders. Indeed REAL LIFE Hero!! 👏🏆

An idea that took shape 40 years ago and continued to influence - despite personal challenges, setbacks, changing trends and generational shifts! ..

And yet, despite these, I humbly prefer to call myself “Dance Educator”. Only. That.
“ICON & LEGACY” - shying away from these pompous-sounding words - that people throw out for themselves or their organizations 😄 ( Icon can start to sound like “I CON” and “Legacy” will have people asking you “ Let us see?” what you have achieved if they don’t know the first thing about you or your organization ! 😄)
Strictly speaking - unless you are not inspiring MILLIONS around the world, these titles should be kept WELL reserved for global achievers in any industry - (not just arts)- who have dramatically touched the lives of masses in some form or other.
