Happy Teacher Appreciation week to all my friends that are teachers. Time for the obligatory Rita Pierson Ted Talk. I watched this video for the first time 6 years ago at the end of my career changer boot camp as I was about to start my first year teaching fifth grade. This video pops up for me time to time, and every time it does I sit and watch. I don't do the job for the pay, I sometimes question the public school policy and process. But the thing that wakes me up every morning is the relationships that I get to build with these students each and everyday. Any time I meet someone and tell them I am a teach I usually get the same question "Are you in it for the long hall?" and when I answer with an emphatic YES they are often taken back and respond with a God Bless You. Tough Times/Days don't last, Tough Teachers Do.
