When working on writing letters with diagonals, there is no better way to visualize it than play. We were able to discuss the slope of the diagonal with blocks that carried over to writing. 👏✏️🎉

Sometimes clients stay with me for a little while and sometimes they stay with me for years. No matter how long, as long as they are having fun, it doesn’t matter.

This client and I have been working together for well over a year and he has grown as a student and a person. Today was our “see ya later” session as he jumps into his next adventure. Whenever I have a “see ya later” session, I ask the kiddo to write me a note. 📝The note can be about anything, it’s their final writing sample. When he handed me this…to say tears came to my eyes was an understatement. 😭

Catch ya later I! Remember, you can do anything as long as you do your best and smile. 🤩

Did you know that lefties have to be taught to write in their own way?! Many times left handed kiddos struggle with handwriting because they are being taught using right hand techniques. Here are a few tips to teach the ✋🏼handed writers:
1️⃣: The 📄 needs to be tilted to have the left side higher - this helps prevent wrist hooking.
2️⃣: For the uppercase letters F, G, H, I, J, T, the “little lines to finish” can be pulled from right to left.
3️⃣: Give them appropriate models to copy from. Many worksheets are made for 🤚 handed people. This leads to lefties having to hook their wrists to see what to copy.

Have you ever heard of the over tilt?

When working on remediating a ✏️ grip, it's really important to have the paper tilted the correct (for the writer) way. ✅✅

For our left🤚 writers, that might look like over tilting the paper with the left corner extra high. This will support the writer's wrist to stay straight. It's the 🤏things that make a 👏 difference! 📝
