🌱 Volunteer Opportunity – Caruthersville Community Garden 🌱
Dear Parents and Families,
We are excited to invite you and your children to volunteer at the Caruthersville Community Garden, located at 700 East 18th Street – Lincoln University Cooperative Extension.
Volunteer days will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., weather permitting. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents, children, and family members to spend quality time together while giving back to our community.
Gardening as a family provides many valuable benefits, including:
• Teaching children responsibility and teamwork
• Encouraging healthy eating habits
• Promoting physical activity and time outdoors
• Strengthening family bonds
• Supporting mental well-being and stress relief
Through our partnership with Lincoln University Cooperative Extension, youth and families will also learn about agriculture, nutrition, and where their food comes from. This hands-on experience supports healthy living while building practical life skills and community pride.
Families will gain experience growing and harvesting fresh, nutritious food. As a special thank you for volunteering, all volunteers will receive first serve of the harvested produce.
Please note the following:
• All volunteers will be asked to sign a liability waiver prior to participating.
• Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
• A phone number will be required and added to a group text message system to send notifications in the event we do not meet due to weather or other circumstances.
