It’s only 9am—and yet, nature has already been a part of our day in so many beautiful, simple ways.
I’m raising a nature-loving child, and I’ve come to realise that connection with the outdoors doesn’t have to be big, planned, or perfect.
🌿 It lives in the quiet rhythms.
🌿 The everyday pauses.
🌿 The habits we don’t even realise are shaping a lifelong love for the natural world.
Here’s how we’ve connected with nature before we’ve even reached nursery today:
☀️ We opened the curtains and let the morning light pour in—spotting a pigeon on the neighbour’s roof and waving good morning.
📚 We snuggled in bed and read The Wild Woods—letting nature stories guide our slow start.
🍇 We topped our yogurt and granola with hand-picked blackberries—talking about how they grew.
🚪 We opened the front door and paused to feel the air—deciding together if it was a shorts day.
🐝 We stopped to watch bees dance on the lavender and checked if any tomatoes were ready to harvest.
☁️ We looked through the sunroof at the clouds—predicting the weather as we went.
🌊 We dawdled by the stream, listening to the sound of water trickling after the rain.
🌿 We smelled the mint growing in the nursery garden before saying goodbye.
These tiny moments?
They matter.
They teach slowness. Wonder. Awareness.
And most importantly—they build a quiet, lasting bond with the earth.
