CESD #317 Families,
This is a reminder that Friday, October 9, 2026, is an early dismissal day due to School Improvement.

Early dismissal applies to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade and the ECSE program. Preschool classes are cancelled.

Dismissal Times:
Shuttle Bus: 12:20 PM
Primary School/ECSE: 12:30 PM
Middle School: 12:35 PM

There will also be no school on Monday, October 12, in observance of Columbus Day.

School will resume on Tuesday, October 13. Have a wonderful long weekend!

📚 CARTHAGE MIDDLE SCHOOL — PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES 📚

We are looking forward to connecting with families during this year’s Parent-Teacher Conferences!

📅 Conference Dates & Times
Tuesday, October 20 | 3:30–6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, October 21 | 3:30–6:30 p.m.
Friday, October 23 | 🚫 NO SCHOOL

🏫 Open House Format
This year, conferences will be held in an open house format. Teachers will be in their classrooms during conference hours and available to answer questions, discuss student progress, and address any concerns.

⏰ 15-Minute Conferences
To allow all families an opportunity to meet with teachers, conferences will be limited to 15 minutes.

If you feel additional time is needed, an extended conference may be scheduled at a later date and time that is convenient for both the parent and teacher.

💻 Quarterly Grades Through TeacherEase
This year, middle school quarterly grades will be available electronically through TeacherEase. Paper copies of quarterly grades will not be sent home unless specifically requested by a parent/guardian.

Good Morning! It is officially October and fall is already off to a great start for our CPS PTO! We are looking forward to getting our Room Parents set-up for Halloween Parties later this month. Please see the information below to help us out!

Earlier this school year PTO had asked parents to sign a permission slip regarding our 26/27 Directory. This permission slip is crucial for allowing us to communicate with families via text message regarding our classroom parties. Your permission grants Room Parents the ability to keep you informed regarding party times, location and volunteer opportunities. This permission IS NOT a sign up to volunteer or be a room parent. It simply allows you to receive a message with information and details. If you do not sign the permission, we can't contact you.

If you have already signed the paper copy- you are GOOD to go! If you missed the form and would still like to sign-up to receive this information regarding class parties- we have created a digital link below to sign up. If you aren't sure- go ahead and just fill out this digital form!

We’ll be hosting an informational meeting to share more about our trip to Washington D.C. & Gettysburg, including what students will experience, travel details, cost, payment options, and how to register.

This trip will give students (current 6th & 7th graders) the opportunity to experience many of the places and topics they’ve learned about in the classroom firsthand.

Our first PreK Family Night was a success! 🐐💛 Goat yoga, yummy food, and time together made for such a fun evening with our students and families. We loved seeing everyone come together and enjoy a wonderful night at CPS!

We’re excited to share that ROE #26’s LEAP Program has officially been approved by the Illinois State Board of Education to expand our services to students in grades K–3! 💜💛

This expansion means we can begin building supportive relationships and providing early intervention even sooner in a student’s educational journey.

LEAP is all about Leading, Educating, and Partnering in Schools to help students build connections, overcome barriers, and find success.

We’re incredibly excited about what this next chapter means for students, families, and our school partners!
