Carthage Area Homeschool Association - CAHSA

Carthage Area Homeschool Association - CAHSA Carthage Area Home School Association (CAHSA) exists to encourage and assist parents as
they "train up" and teach their children at home.

(Proverbs 22:6)
We hope to:
• Foster fellowship among homeschoolers, both parents and students.
• Share information regarding homeschooling.
• Provide resources not (easily) available to individuals.
• To further the appreciation of homeschooling in our community. CAHSA is founded on Christian principles. The organization and all of its activities and publications will be consistently and forthrig

htly Christian to the honor and glory of God. Our final authority is the Bible. Even so, we will not exclude those who do not believe as we do, as long as they do not actively violate these stated principles. We believe that home education is neither an escape from responsibility nor a simplistic alternative to a child's education, but requires careful consideration of each child's needs, critical self-analysis on the part of the parents, and a mature commitment to each child's continuing education. We urge parents to "count the cost" before deciding rashly to homeschool their child(ren). We do not approve nor support families who withdraw their child(ren) from public or private schools for any other purpose than to diligently educate them at home. CAHSA is not, in any way, to be construed as an "umbrella school" that oversees individual students. To remain a member in good standing, CAHSA families must comply with the education laws of our state, namely “…parents must educate their children in a bona fide manner, using a written curriculum consisting of reading, spelling, grammar, math, and a course in good citizenship.” (from Texas Education Code 21.033(a)). CAHSA recommends families new to homeschooling contact the Texas Home School Coalition and ask for their New Homeschoolers Packet. Another valuable source of information is Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA). Addresses and phone numbers are attached. Specific curriculum recommendations from CAHSA members are to be regarded as “advice from friends”, not as “expert” educational counseling.

Some of our CAHSA kids joined the “EWWW Crew” last week at Work Hard Worms in Marshall. We learned so much about worms.
Did you know that worm p**p, also called castings, do not stink? True story!
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to watching our new worms get to work! 🪱🚜🦺🪱
Thank you so much Work Hard Worms for having our group!

CAHSA wants to extend a HUGE 💥THANK YOU💥 to Fairplay Nursery for hosting our group! This was our first field trip to kick off the 2026-2027 school year and she definitely set the bar high! Mrs Bobbie and her crew taught the kids all they need to know about annuals and perennials, they picked their favorite plant, potted it up, fertilized & watered it, they had a fabulous gardening scavenger hunt, and finished the day painting bird houses and treasure boxes while enjoying a snack!
The absolute perfect way to make learning fun! We are so grateful for Mrs Bobbie and the beautiful Fairplay Nursery. ❤️🌻🍃🌼
