Carthage Early Childhood students and staff had a wonderful time at Diamond Grove Adventures last week! The weather was perfect and the animals were friendly as the students got first hand experience about farm animals. They got to feed and pet pigs, goats, and bunnies, ride a train, and have many fun adventures.

Ms. Cara G and her class planted grass seed as part of the early childhood program's lessons on gardening! The kids had the opportunity to get into the dirt and sprinkle grass seed while discussing what plants need to grow. The kids will spend the next few weeks tending to their grass and learning new vocabulary terms, as well as learning about the responsibility of caring for plants!

Ms. Julie's classes recently completed a directed drawing of a cow to wrap up the Farm unit. Directed drawings involve following directions and visual cues to create a drawing. Students practice following directions, strengthen fine motor skills, increase listening skills, and gain confidence in their artistic abilities.

If you would like to try a directed drawing with your child at home, there are lots of examples online! Ms. Julie's class followed the directions of the Art for Kids Hub on YouTube. The channel has a variety of drawings for all skill levels.
