Carthage Technical Center/Carthage R-9 Under the umbrella of the Carthage R9 school district, the Carthage Technical Center was established in 1965.

The Tech Center offers programs for secondary, post-secondary, and community education. Secondary has a strong history in their long-standing programs: Agriculture, Business, Carpentry, Computer Information Technology, Drafting, Family & Consumer Science, and Machining. In more recent years, secondary has added Criminal Justice, Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Digital Electronics, Fire Science, Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Tech, and Project Lead the Way. Post-secondary programs include the Practical Nursing Program. Through Community Education, CTC offers classes in many areas, such as technical, computers, foreign language, and health sciences. CTC can also assist with training for area organizations and businesses.

Last week, several of our students had the opportunity to tour local manufacturing facilities and get a better idea of the many products being made right here in Carthage. A huge shoutout to Schreiber Foods - Fairview Plant, HE Williams, Inc., and Leggett & Platt’s Machine Products for hosting our students and giving them a firsthand look at the work happening here in Carthage.

Our students were impressed by the diversity of products being made and the global impact being made by these companies. It was a great reminder of the many career opportunities available right in our own community.
