Nancy Ann Fligor – Carbondale
Nancy Ann Fligor, 79, of Carbondale, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, surrounded by her loving family.
Nancy was born on November 8, 1946, in Carbondale, Illinois, to the late William Isaac “Ike” and Wilma Dee (Millhouse) Brandon.
On June 17, 1966, Nancy married the love of her life, David Fligor, in Carbondale, Illinois. Together, they shared more than 60 wonderful years of marriage, creating a lifetime of cherished memories.
Nancy dedicated many years to Southern Illinois University, where she worked as a librarian at Morris Library until her retirement. She had a love for reading that remained a meaningful part of her life.
Nancy was an accomplished quilter, a passion she embraced wholeheartedly. Over the years, she lovingly created more than 200 quilts, each one reflecting her creativity, patience, and attention to detail. She also took pleasure in traveling, especially cruises, and enjoyed field trialing horses. She loved spending time with animals from her beloved horses and Pygmy goats to the many dogs she loved over the years.
Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her husband, David Fligor; her children, Mark Fligor. (Alana) and Christy Roof (Greg); her grandchildren, Lexi Roof, Eileen Fligor, Rex Roof, and Clara Fligor; her brother, Kent Brandon (Linda); her close family, Jim and Kathy Anderson and Dianna Miller; her caretakers, Ellie Frey, Judy Simpson, Mary Kay Steele, and Susie Berkey; along with many other family members and friends who were blessed to know and love her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Isaac “Ike” and Wilma Dee Brandon.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home in Carbondale. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Morris Library and should be mailed to: SIU Foundation, Colyer Hall, Mail Code 6805, Carbondale, IL 62901 or an online donation at https://salukifunder.siu.edu/project/22043.
Walker Funeral Home and Crematory of Southern Illinois is honored to serve the family and has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Hi classmates! Bonny Baker wanted me to let everyone know that her phone is messed up and is getting another one so she won’t be on fb for a little while. Meantime Bonny has an appt tomorrow ( Monday) to schedule surgery again on her R eye. She has swelling and still cannot see in that eye either so please pray for her. I will let you know how her appointment went when I hear from her. Let’s hope they can do surgery again and pray that the swelling doesn’t prevent her from having it!

Great night with great friends! We even crashed the Class of 1973 who dined in the adjoining room with us! The food and service was superb!

Great night with great friends! The food at The Hidden Kitchen was awesome and we will be back! The staff was so nice and our waitress Corene was the best! Highly recommend trying them out! The venue is very nice too!

Also I would like to thank the one's not even in our class for all the love, prayers and support you have given me it means the world to me and I can't tell you how much I love each and everyone of you. Please keep prayers coming it's been getting really difficult. But with your prayers and God has my hand we are going to beat this together. Again God Bless You All 💕🙏💕

Kevin’s funeral was HUGE! Lots of tears and laughter! The service was outstanding! Thank you Don Yewell for placing flowers at Kevin’s seat at Country Cupboard! Blessings to Debbie and her beautiful family! ❤️
