We are currently doing some maintenance on our page due to a high volume of spam and unwanted activity.

We want to take a little time to make sure our page is a safe, positive, and meaningful space for our families, caregivers, and community. ❤️

Once we have everything cleaned up and secured, we’ll be getting back to what we love most—sharing our mission, educating our community, and connecting with the families we serve.

And we have a special video coming that we’re excited to share! 🎥

Miss Swift and her husband stepped into the shoes of a parent caring for a child with special needs for four days, experiencing firsthand some of the challenges, responsibilities, and emotions that special-needs parents navigate every day.

It was an eye-opening experience that gave them an even deeper appreciation for the strength, dedication, and love of special-needs families. ❤️

We can’t wait to share their experience with you!

Just a little glimpse into the next morning and how things went. 💛

We did have a moment where a cup was tossed, water went everywhere, and being a little out of our normal routine definitely played a part. But we handled it, cleaned up the water, changed clothes, dried the couch, and were still able to settle down and take that much-needed nap.

Now it’s 12:11, we’re back outside getting some laps in, redirecting, and working our way back into our routine. 🫶🏼

It doesn’t always go perfectly, and that’s okay. Sometimes the goal isn’t perfection — it’s helping them regulate, redirect, reset, and keep moving forward. 💕

✨ Behind the Scenes… Something BIG Is Coming ✨

A little behind-the-scenes look at our first meeting and training for a project we’ve been working on behind the scenes.

There’s a LOT happening in that room, and while I can’t share all the details just yet… 🤫

These are just a few sneak peeks of the planning, training, collaboration, and preparation that are going into something I’m incredibly excited about.

This project has been a labor of love, and seeing it finally begin to come together is such an exciting feeling.

More will be revealed at the beginning of the year. ❤️

Today, I’m carrying more than just folders. ❤️

I was able to sit down with some of our families, listen to their concerns, hear what they’re experiencing, and most importantly… listen to what they need.

Because sometimes being a voice for someone starts with simply being willing to sit down and listen.

I’ve been working quietly behind the scenes on something very close to my heart. Something that has grown out of the conversations I’ve had with our families, the things I’ve seen firsthand, and the needs I know are still not being met.

I’m not ready to share all the details just yet… 🤫

But I will say this:

I’m listening. I’m learning. I’m taking notes. And I’m preparing.

What comes next has been a long time coming, and I cannot wait until the time is right to finally show you what I have been working toward. ❤️

For now… just know that something BIG is being built behind the scenes.

And when the time comes, I hope you’ll understand why I took the time to listen first. 🫶🏻

YOUR NURSE ROCKS! 💙🩺

Nikkie did an incredible job! Make sure you let her know that her favorite patient sent these praises her way. 🥰

As an office team, we absolutely LOVE seeing our families and nurses support and appreciate one another. While we may be working behind the scenes, our nurses are out in the field every day providing care, building relationships, and becoming part of our families’ lives.

It truly takes a village—our nurses, families, caregivers, clients, and office team all working together to make sure our kiddos receive the care and support they deserve. 💙

We are so grateful for the amazing circle of people that makes up the Unique Pediatric Hearts family! 🫶

💙 GEORGIA FAMILIES — KNOW YOUR RIGHTS WHEN IT COMES TO SPECIAL EDUCATION

If you are the parent or caregiver of a child with a disability, understanding your rights can make a HUGE difference when navigating evaluations, reevaluations, IEP meetings, 504 Plans, services, and disagreements with your child’s school.

One area we want families to know about is Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs).

If you disagree with an evaluation completed by your child’s school district, Georgia’s special education rules provide protections for parents regarding an Independent Educational Evaluation at public expense, subject to the applicable requirements.

When a parent requests an IEE at public expense, the school district generally must either provide the evaluation or take the appropriate steps to defend its evaluation through due process. (Georgia Department of Education)

📚 Parents — educate yourself!

You can ask questions such as:

✔️ What evaluations have been completed for my child?

✔️ What information and data were used to make this decision?

✔️ Can I receive copies of my child’s educational records and evaluation reports?

✔️ What is the school proposing, and where is it documented?

✔️ Can I request a reevaluation?

✔️ If I disagree with the evaluation, what are my options?

✔️ Can I request an Independent Educational Evaluation?

✔️ What dispute-resolution options are available to me?

Parents are not simply observers in the special-education process. You are an important member of your child’s IEP team and have rights under federal and Georgia special-education law.
