On behalf of Brent and Cassidy’s family:
As some of you may have heard, on Friday June 30th, Cassidy passed and is now with Jesus. Brent and her parents were surrounding her in those final moments with pure love. While we are filled with sadness and grief, we are also very much filled with joy and peace in knowing that Cassidy is no longer struggling with cancer. There are no adequate words to describe this moment of pain, but we want to give some insight to the past two years.
On June 8, 2021, Cassidy was diagnosed with stage 4 appendix cancer. This was devastating news as she was going in for a routine surgery and this was not on our radar. After finding out about the cancer we were told it was incurable and that even with treatment, Cassidy potentially had one year to live.
Brent remembers early on Cassidy saying when people asked how she was handling the treatments that she wanted people to know, “beautifully.” For those of you who were part of this journey, you know that to be completely true. Cassidy faced these struggles head on with the most grace, compassion, and dignity. Through all the treatments, she still fiercely cared for others even in the midst of the most trying time of their lives.
Over the past few months, the family had seen more declines set in, but it wasn’t until three weeks ago that things drastically began to change. However, right about that time, (June 8th, 2023) was the TWO year anniversary of Cassidy being diagnosed. On June 16th 2023, Brent and Cassidy celebrated 7 years of marriage. Which in honesty, was always a question mark if they would see that day after the diagnosis, but thankfully they did.
Over the past two years, Cassidy continued to live life to the fullest. So, while we are grieving and hurting, we are so incredibly thankful for the extra time we had with her. We are thankful that she now has eternal rest in Jesus, that she has a new body in which is cancer and pain free, and that she is once again smiling with that smile to brighten the entire room.
Our family thanks you for your continued prayers and support during this difficult moment.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts ❤️
