The Turning Pointe Dance Center - TPDC Quality dance education for children ages 3 & up from certified instructors. Offering Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre.

We provide
- Pre-Ballet/Tap Combination Classes for ages 3. yrs - 6 yrs

- Ballet/Tap/Jazz Combination Classes for ages 7 yrs - High School

- Individual Technique Classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Modern/Contemporary for ages 8 yrs - High School

- Hip Hop for ages 6 yrs - High School.

Final Open House/Registration (New AND Returning students welcome) event is happening TODAY, 1:00 - 7:00 pm! Come see all we have to offer. We have 24 different classes to choose from for ages 18 mos - 18 years old. Ballet, Pre-Pointe/Pointe, Tap, Jazz/Lyrical/Modern/Contemporary, Street Dance/Hip Hop, PomPom/Dance Team Technique, Preschool Classes, Caregiver and Me classes and special classes for Homeschool families!!

Now that we are back from CNADM, I have a very exciting announcement. I wanted the girls' accomplishments to be highlighted first. For the past year I have been working on my continuing education, and am proud to say I have completed all the hours and requirements to receive my Master Dance Educator Certificate (MDE) from Chicago National Association of Dance Masters. Last year, I completed my Certified Dance Educator (CDE) certificate and the MDE was the final step. To earn the MDE, I had to earn 400 credit hours of training by attending workshops and classes. I had to present a portfolio that included my training, experiences, teaching philosophy, plans to continue my dance education and training and a lesson plan for a full dance class. Also included was an explanation of my teaching process for 2 dance skills from 2 different dance genres. This included how the skills are broken down and taught at the beginner level, then carried on through intermediate and advanced levels, as well as, what common problems I've encountered and solutions to fix them. Finally, I had to submit a research paper on an historical figure in dance who had a significant impact or contribution to the dance world.
I am always looking for ways to become a better, more knowledgeable dance teacher. I am not the teacher I was,10 years ago, and my students are better for it.

CNADM Day 7:
Our final day at the CNADM Workshops was just as wonderful as the previous 6 (even though we were all exhausted and sore)! Orange Level dancers took classes in Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Ballet and Lyrical. My Red Level dancers had classes in Contemporary, Modern, Jazz Fusion, Tap and Musical Theatre. Blue Level had Jazz Fusion, Contemporary, Latin/Salsa, Musical Theatre and Modern. The White Level dancers took Modern, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop and Tap. I wandered from room to room taking pictures and dispensing Insta-Freeze Roll-on, Braces/compression sleeves, bandaids, ice packs, belly medicine and ibuprofen. The week had finally caught up with the dancers who had been there since the Sunday before, and the girls who came just for the weekend, were just not used to the amount of dancing they were doing. I am proud to say, we all persevered! The Wrap-up Rally was the Grand Finale to the Weekend Workshops. Kate and Allana performed a Lyrical combo with the Orange Level. Kya, Leyton, Kinsley, Everly and Sophia performed a Musical Theatre combo with the Red Level. The Blue Level performed a Modern Combo. Kennedy and Lillian performed a Tap combo with the White Level.
I am so proud of every one of these girls for working hard and doing their absolute best! This has to be one of the best Chicago weeks I've experienced in the 15 years I've been attending CNADM. The faculty was beyond amazing! It was wonderful to get my cup refilled and gain inspiration, new ideas and updated training. I am pumped up and excited to share those ideas with my students this year.
