Carrollton Elementary is hosting Open House on September 2nd from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

🔹 Middle and High Schools: Tuesday, September 1
🔸 Elementary Schools: Wednesday, September 2

Open House is an important opportunity to meet teachers and staff, learn about the new school year, receive schedules and other school-specific information, and help students feel comfortable before the first day. Some schools also have special orientation sessions or scheduled appointment windows. Click on the link below to see the specific schedule for each school.

MEAL APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN • Apply Online Through SchoolCafé

🍎🥪 Families at five IWCS schools: this back-to-school task is especially important!

Parents and guardians of students attending the following schools should complete a 2026–2027 Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application if they believe their household may qualify:

🏫 Carrollton Elementary
🏫 Westside Elementary
🏫 Smithfield Middle
🏫 Smithfield High

Applications may be completed privately and securely online through SchoolCafé. Families should submit a new application for the new school year unless they have received notification that their student has already been approved.

Need help completing an application? Call the IWCS Child Nutrition Department at 757-365-1631. Applying now can help ensure meal benefits are in place when school begins. 💙

KINDERGARTEN IS CALLING! • 29 Days Until School

🎒 Is your rising kindergartener ready for the first day of school?
Families should make sure they have completed all health and enrollment requirements, including:
✅ Schedule a physical exam with your child’s healthcare provider
✅ Complete the required school entrance health form
✅ Confirm that all required immunizations are current
✅ Locate your child’s original birth certificate
✅ Gather proof of your Isle of Wight County address
✅ Check with your child’s school about any additional requirements
Kindergarten immunization requirements include DTaP, Polio, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella vaccines. The number of required doses varies by vaccine.
Don’t wait until the last minute; appointments and missing documents can take time to arrange!

☀️ School is out, and summer meals are in!

Isle of Wight County Schools is participating in the Summer Food Service Program, providing free meals for children this summer at Windsor Elementary School.

📍 Windsor Elementary School
📅 July 6–31, Mondays–Thursdays
🍎 Breakfast: 9:00–9:30 a.m.
🥪 Lunch: 12:00–12:30 p.m.

Meals are available on a first come, first served basis and must be eaten onsite.

Big news! We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we’re getting an outdoor classroom! We can’t wait to give our students a fresh, dynamic environment to learn, grow, and thrive in the fresh air. ☀️

Smithfield Foods recently awarded a $13,500 grant to Carrollton Elementary to build an outdoor classroom.

All IWCS Schools will dismiss 3 hours early on Wednesday, June 10, and Thursday, June 11. High School graduations will occur Friday, June 12. June 12 is also an employee work day.

Mark your calendars. Tomorrow is Kindergarten screening at Carrollton Elementary School. ANY upcoming kindergartener in Isle of Wight county can come to Carrollton Elementary tomorrow to screen their kindergartener regardless of registration status.
