Welcome to the staff Mr. Bonitatibus!!!

Ronald Bonitatibus is joining the Newman Smith Trojan Band in his first year of teaching as an Assistant Band Director. He also completed his clinical teaching with the Trojan Band during the 2024-25 spring semester. Mr. Bonitatibus graduated summa cm laude with a Bachelor's degree in Music Composition with a concentration in saxophone from the University of North Texas. Mr. Bonitatibus is excited to continue working with the wonderful scholars and staff at Newman Smith High School!

We are proud to welcome Caleb Brown as the new Percussion Director at Newman Smith High School. A recent graduate of the University of North Texas, Mr. Brown holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education with a concentration in percussion. During his time at UNT, he studied under renowned faculty members and participated in a variety of ensembles, gaining experience in concert, marching, and chamber percussion.

In addition to his collegiate experience, Mr. Brown performed with the 2021 Guardians, 2022 Troopers and the 2024 Santa Clara Vanguard, where he developed a deep understanding of high-level marching percussion performance and instruction. This experience provided valuable training in ensemble precision, leadership, and the rigor of national-level competition, all of which inform his approach to percussion education and performance.

With a passion for music education and a deep commitment to student success, Mr. Brown is excited to build on the tradition of excellence in the Trojan Band percussion program. He looks forward to collaborating with students, staff, and families to create a positive and motivating learning environment for all percussionists.
