πŸŽ“ Meet Madison Brooks πŸŽ“

Madison recently graduated from the University of West Georgia with Honors College distinction, earning a bachelor's degree in speech language pathology.

In the Fall, she will begin a master's program in speech language pathology at Auburn University.

During her time in the Honors College, Madison credited the Honors College deans and faculty mentors as being especially instrumental to her success. Their support helped her present research at national conferences, mentor other students, and grow through out her capstone experience.

One of her greatest achievements as an Honors College student was being named the University System of Georgia's 2026 Academic Scholar for the University of West Georgia.

✨We are excited to see all that Madison continues to accomplish ✨

Jalen is starting a career as a Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU) at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.

During his time in the Honors College, Jalen especially valued how his Honors courses focused on discussion, analysis, and real world application. They strengthened his communication, critical thinking, and ability to engage with complex topics, which he will carry into his nursing career.

One of his greatest achievements as an Honors student was being named UWG’s 2025 Homecoming King, a recognition of his leadership, service, and commitment to building community.

This semester, we launched the Finish Strong: Honors Incentive Program, designed to celebrate students as they meet their Honors College requirements πŸŽ‰

Our third-year students spent the day at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, a destination they selected themselves 🌿🌸 During their visit, they enjoyed a guided tour that offered a closer look at the gardens, followed by time to explore on their own and take in all the beauty around them.

From vibrant blooms to peaceful walking paths, the day was filled with curiosity, connection, and so many smiling faces 😊

Our second-year students celebrated May the 4th in the best way possible with a Star Wars movie night at West Cinema πŸ•πŸŽ¬The evening included pizza, a private screening, and a behind-the-scenes tour of the theater. Students got to see the original stage and visit the projection room where the films are brought to life.

From a unique look inside the theater to a fun night together, the Force was definitely with us for this one 🌟

A special thank you to Dr. Connell for thoughtfully leading these sessions and investing in our students. Also, thank you to our Peer Mentors for the time, care, and dedication you have shown all year. Your impact truly matters ✨
