Ellenville High School today inducted three individuals--Desiree Montanez, Coach Lee Roberts and Raymond Younger, Jr.--and its1972 championship football team into its Athletic Hall of Fame. The ceremonies at my hometown school in Upstate New York were held in the new elementary school cafeteria, which with great design thought has an open window back wall that overlooks the school's athletic fields and shows off the area's still vibrant mountains. My personal role in today's event was small: over the past two years I tried to build the case that the 1972 football team deserved to be honored for showing that, after 10 hard seasons, Ellenville could have a winning football tradition. The ceremonies attracted a full house of more than 125 people and were led by John Burns, who has been the driving force behind the hall of fame. Still proud football team members came today from current homes as far as Alaska, California, Texas, Florida and the Carolinas. Making the ceremonies was Coach Dave Frank (speaking in one photo), who had not been back to Ellenville for decades. My favorite line of the day was from my good friend Kyle Hoar, the team quarterback, who said: We are still proud of the championship we won together, and 52 years later, to show our bond is still strong, we all agreed to dye our hair the same color for today's ceremonies. . . . Among my good friends who were on that team were Gary Wilhelm, Kyle and Stan Foo, who quietly saved his varsity jacket for five decades--and proved he could still fit into it. This was a wonderful day for Ellenville.

The Ellenville Central School District is proud to announce that this year's Athletic Hall of Fame inductees are Basketball and Football star Raymond Younger, All-America Soccer player and coach A. Lee Roberts, Field Hockey standout Desiree Montanez, and the 1972 Blue Devil Football team. These individuals and the team will be honored during the seventh annual Athletic Hall of Fame Induction, which will take place at 11 AM on Saturday, October 11, at Ellenville Elementary School. Just in case you did not know that the 1972 Football Championship team will be inducted in the ECS Athletic Hall of Fame (HOF) on October 11, 2025.

HOF Breakfast is 930am and HOF Ceremony is right after that at 1100, both events are at the school. It will be great to see everyone again. Please let Kim Hoar know at school if u are going to breakfast, that is for food count Her number is 845-647-0134.

Class of 1974 – 2026 Reunion Survey

Hello everyone. Several classmates have expressed having another reunion in 2026.
A cruise has been floated out there and I will be collecting info from classmates on their desire to participate, best time of year and destination and duration.
If anyone has a cruise specialist that could assist with planning a group event that would be appreciated. I am only the messenger without any cruise experience.
Keep in mind there are travel warnings for different countries that are currently in place such as Mexico and Jamaica which are subject to change.
For those of you who may be interested, please reply with your comments and/or suggestions by the end of November if interested. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Look what appeared in this months Ellenville-Wawarsing Alumni Association Newsletter?

Many people did great things to make our reunion weekend memorable.

Henry "Bucky" Green was also one of the classmates that shined. When we were looking for things to do on Saturday, he volunteered his time to give a free tour and presentation of the Wawarsing Historical Society Museum. The incredible insight he provided on the history of the community was extremely interesting. Suggest next time you are in town go visit the museum if you did make it there. Bucky was also able to assist in finding addresses, cells and/or emails of classmates who we could not find. He was a great team player. Thank you for everything you did.
