Two UWG Tanner Health School of Graduate Nursing students presented Spring Semester at the Nursing Science Symposium at Georgia Highlands College. EdD student Lourdes Webster presented, “Doctoral Students’ Perspectives on Preparing Nursing Students as Advocates for Health Equity,” and MSN student Bryson Shiflett presented, “titled Increasing Nursing Students’ Postpartum Mental Health Assessment Knowledge.” Pictured with students are Dr. Katie Morales, Associate Dean of Nursing, and Dr. Pam Dunagan, Interim Graduate Program Director.

Dr. Kim Crawford, assistant professor, UWG Tanner Health School of Medicine, traveled to the African Bible University in Kampala, Uganda where she held a health training on infectious diseases, first aid and CPR. UWG Tanner Health School of Nursing Study Abroad from Sole Hudson, “My peers and I made a trip to Florence and ended up cooking homemade pasta from scratch. Between the flour fights, fresh ingredients, and learning traditional Italian techniques, it turned into one of the best experiences of the trip.” !

Five UWG Tanner Health School of Nursing faculty have been recognized with the inaugural 100 Great Nurse of Georgia award: Kim Crawford, PhD, MPH, APRN, FNP-C; Kelly Dyar, EdD, RN, CNN, CNE; Cindy Johnson, PhD, RN, CHSE-A; Kathleen Morales, PhD, RN, CNE; and Amy Yarbrough, EdD, RN, RNC-MNN, CNE. “Nearly 40 years ago, the Great 100 Nurses Celebration was founded in New Orleans, and it has since honored thousands of outstanding nurses across Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
