Family vacation with a duel purpose of figuring out a solution for my burnout other than a week to avoid it.
I start noticing after Kentucky the streets are lined with mimosa trees, (Albizia julibrissin). I have always thought they were beautiful and exotic and have always wanted one, and here they are just growing wild and apparently considered invasive down here. I get excited, I start looking up research and ethnobotanical uses, I get more excited......This stuff works directly at the level of the HPA axis I talked about (hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal =HPA) in a previous blog exploring the mechanism of burnout.
Known legendarily as the happiness herb in Asian cultures, it helps with lethargy, confusion, mild depression, anxiety and insomnia.....also all symptoms of burnout. It can't be lumped in with depression or anxiety because it can swing between both, it not a suppression or an overactivity per say, its an imbalance, a malfunction that can leave you in tears or pulling your hair out at any given moment. I just love how whatever is needed along this journey of life for me seems to appear when it is needed. So I am grateful for mimosa's emergence into my reality at present, and I am going to take its energy into my body and see what happens, and if you are interested, stay tuned ๐
I also want to specify that I am not hoping to cure burnout. It is a multifaceted issue that affects many in different ways, including many facets that plants or ideas can solve. But the journey here isn't about coming to definitive answer, but doing some A to B comparisons between individuals, and we can eventually pick out common themes in the conversation. Its a conversation that is needing to be had across the world but especially ours, I dont want to see a bunch of people who are all precious to me break themselves to please a society that is not reciprocating them emptying themselves daily for end stage capitalism because they love the people their companies serve.
I would like to hear anything you all have learned or thought about this issue, if it would be productive, pop into the comments. I will continue to share along my journey as well.
LOVE TO ALL
