The Pickens County Board of Education is proud to announce Jeff Campbell as Superintendent of Pickens County Schools.

A 2000 graduate of Gordo High School, Mr. Campbell brings more than 20 years of experience in public education and a strong connection to the community he now serves. His career has included teaching and administrative leadership at both the elementary and high school levels, most recently serving as principal of Gordo High School and previously as principal of Gordo Elementary School and Northport Elementary School.

Throughout his career, Mr. Campbell has remained committed to academic growth, positive school culture and creating opportunities for students. Under his leadership, both Gordo Elementary and Northport Elementary earned “A” ratings on the Alabama State Report Card, while Gordo High School improved its report card score and expanded academic and extracurricular opportunities during his first year leading the school.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve Pickens County Schools in this role,” Campbell said. “I love this school system and the people who make it special. I look forward to working alongside our students, employees, families and communities as we continue building strong schools and creating opportunities for every student to succeed.”

Please join us in congratulating Mr. Campbell and his family as he begins this new chapter of service to Pickens County Schools!

Earlier this week, Pickens County Schools kicked off the 2026–2027 school year by bringing our entire faculty and staff together for Institute Day.

Interim Superintendent Jeff Campbell shared his expectations for the year ahead, emphasizing the importance of fostering a positive, punctual, and student-centered culture in every school. As we begin a new year, our focus remains where it belongs—on our students and their success.

During the program, we also recognized our new employees, employees celebrating 25 years of service to Pickens County Schools, our Central Office staff, and members of the Pickens County Board of Education.

A special thank you to our generous breakfast and lunch sponsors: Alabama ONE, Kelly Services, H&H Educational Services, and American Fidelity.

We are excited for the opportunities this school year will bring and look forward to welcoming our students back very soon!

Last week’s “Just BE” Well Back-to-School Rally was a huge success! Thank you to all the vendors and volunteers who made this possible. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to educate, support, and give back to the community as our students get ready to return to school tomorrow.
