✨ SHAPES ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT✨
MAUREEN AUSTIN
As we celebrate 32 years of Shapes Dance & Acro, we’re celebrating dancers whose journeys continue far beyond our studio!
The influence of dance builds confidence, discipline, and passion that carries into every chapter of life. ⭐️
Meet Maureen Austin, an SDA Alum who spent 15 years at Shapes (2002–2017) before continuing her dance journey at Oklahoma City University and the University of Kansas, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance.
After graduation, Maureen went on to perform at Worlds of Fun and teach dance in both the Oklahoma City and Kansas City areas before relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada. There, she expanded her teaching and performing experience, teaching competitive tap, hip hop, ballet, jazz, and contemporary at Dance Connection and Zemskov Dance Academy.
For the past four years, Maureen has performed with Ghost Light Odyssey, an entertainment production company, where she has had opportunities to perform at incredible venues and events including the Newport Beach Film Festival, Escape Halloween, Brooklyn Bowl, RapidScale, the Magic Castle, and the Borderlands 4 release. She has also had the opportunity to collaborate and perform with incredible artists and companies including Neon Trees, Scarlet Rose Noire, BADLMN, and Netflix!
Today, Maureen is living her dream career in her dream city, and she credits the foundation she received at Shapes for helping her get there. ❤️
We are so proud of Maureen and all she continues to accomplish, and we’re excited to highlight the incredible paths our dancers take beyond the studio! ⭐️⭐️
