Parents and students,
This is a reminder that we have our Winter Pops Concert on Tuesday, December 10th at 6:30 pm in the Polk Gym. Since we don't have school tomorrow, it is very important that all students remember to bring instruments to school on Tuesday, and wear your orchestra shirt and jeans for the concert. (Holiday hats, jewelry, etc. is optional.) We will remind students on Tuesday during class of arrival times for each group, and have our final rehearsals for what promises to be a really fun concert.

We are proud to announce that 8 Polk Orchestra students were selected for the All-Region Orchestra yesterday! Congratulations to the following students:

We are so proud of all who auditioned, and many of those who were not selected still ranked very highly, with Tyler Dounley just 1 away in Concert violas and Jocelyn Lopez just 4 away in Sinfonia violins. It is truly very competitive with over 150 violins auditioning for each orchestra, and many others in all the different sections. Congratulations to all who took the giant challenge of auditioning; your hard work will truly pay off in your growth as musicians!

Chamber Orchestra performed at the Murchison and received a first division rating at Peak Music Festival today!

Polk Orchestra Students and Parents,

I am excited to announce that yesterday, I found out I was chosen as the new head orchestra director at Polk! For those of you who don't know me, I have taught at Newman Smith High School for 7 years as the assistant orchestra director, and I am also a Newman Smith Class of 2000 graduate. I know that I have big shoes to fill, as Mrs. Gauthier is an amazing teacher, but I am willing to accept the challenge to carry on the Ted Polk Orchestra legacy of musical excellence. I am so looking forward to getting to know each of you, and am anxiously awaiting beginning this next chapter of the TPMS Orchestra program. I hope you have a wonderful summer, and I am excited to join your orchestra family in the fall!

Hawaiian Falls fine arts party tomorrow (current students only) from 4-8:30pm. Tickets are available at the door ($20 still) IF your orchestra fees are paid! :)
