As school begins and families' schedules fill up with activities, be sure to make time for at-home meals.

For families, having meals together at any time of day – from breakfast to snacks – can boost better nutritional practices, especially if you plan your menu to include several food groups, including protein, vegetables, fruit, whole grains and a calcium source such as dairy.

School is back in session! Today's lesson looks at how to make apple/crabapple jelly.

To extract juice from apples, wash them but do not pare or core (to preserve pectin), then cut in small pieces.

Firm fruit like apples usually requires some cooking and a small amount of water (about one cup water per pound apples). After adding water, bring to a boil and stir constantly. Apples should be cooked for about 20 minutes.
