Calling all kids ages 8–16! Build it. Decorate it. Race it! Foster County Extension is organizing a Pinebox Derby race during The Market in downtown Carrington at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 28.

A Pinebox Derby is a race in which youth build a small wooden car from a kit and race it down a sloped track.

Thanks to Carrington Motor Inc., cash prizes will be awarded for the Fastest Car and Best-Decorated Car.

All race cars must be built using an official kit prepared by the Extension office. The $5 kit includes a block of wood, wheels and axles. There is no fee to enter the race.

Kits are available at the Foster County Extension Office, located on the top floor of the courthouse. Questions? Call 701-652-2581.
