🐥 Liberty Elementary School second graders now have chicks in their classrooms!

“I like it!” said student Hailley Becerra (pictured second from left) from Mr. Alex Odom’s class, who confidently explained how the chicks have been breaking out of their shells.

“They use their egg tooth because they can’t move their body ‘cause they’re squished up,” she said.

Through the chick hatching experience, students are learning about life cycles, building related vocabulary, and practicing how to handle the chicks safely.

They earned the opportunity to hatch the chicks after writing persuasive essays.

🎉 Congratulations to the District 300 staff below who have been nominated for Kane County Educator of the Year!

These individuals demonstrate an exceptional commitment to support student success both in and out of the classroom, and we are honored to have them represent District 300.

The Kane County Educator of the Year banquet is hosted by the Kane County Regional Office of Education and will take place tonight (Friday, May 1) at the Q Center in St. Charles. Best of luck to the nominees!

Liberty is so incredibly lucky to have Ms. Sanchez, Mrs. Hernandez, and Ms. Salgado keeping our school running smoothly every single day. Thank you to this tremendous trio for all the heart and hard work you put into our community!

3rd grade Arts & Crafts Club put their painted rocks by the flagpole, and 5th grade Book Club had a special guest in attendance, Tyler the hamster, after finishing ”The World According to Humphrey.” Student-led clubs are awesome!

El Club de Artes y Manualidades de 3er grado colocó sus rocas pintadas junto al asta de la bandera, y el Club de Lectura de 5 grado tuvo un invitado especial, Tyler el hámster, después de terminar “El mundo según Humphrey.” ¡Los clubes dirigidos por estudiantes son increíbles!
