Thank you for all your support during Book Fair last week! Our library earned $3600 to spend buying new books--record sales! I always use some of it for popular new titles and student requests, but also plan to update some of our older nonfiction titles with the proceeds. Thanks for helping to keep our library current!

We had a successful first day of Book Fair, with 3 1/2 to go! Just a reminder that TOMORROW (Tuesday 4/28) is Family Night from 3:30 - 6. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will continue to be student shopping days during the school day, and we will be closing at NOON on Friday to tear down!

5th grader Audrey volunteered this week to come teach second graders about the significance of Earth Day, and how endangered animal have been affected by human action!

Save the date: April 27-May 1 is our Spring Book Fair! Family Night will be Tuesday the 28th, and students will have the opportunity to browse and shop during their specials time during the school day.

Last month, Brody G., Oliver A., Greyson C., Sawyer S., and Keaton J., fifth-graders at Carolina Beach Elementary School, were given the Character In Action Award!

We were honored to recognize them at this month’s Regular Board of Education Meeting for demonstrating the character that makes our schools positive, safe, and respectful.

They joined together with Carrie Boos, CBES Media Coordinator, to create ‘Help Kids Read’, a club hosted before school in the morning, inviting students from kindergarten and first grade to read with them in the library. They aim to help younger students grow in their reading skills, vocabulary, and overall passion for reading. They also translate books to include their peers who speak other languages, and they created their own flyers and website to promote their club!

We are so proud of these Carolina Beach Sea Stars!

El mes pasado, Brody G., Oliver A., ​​Greyson C., Sawyer S. y Keaton J., alumnos de quinto grado de la Escuela Primaria Carolina Beach, recibieron el Premio al Carácter en Acción.

Nos sentimos honrados de reconocerlos en la reunión ordinaria de la Junta de Educación de este mes por demostrar el carácter que hace que nuestras escuelas sean positivas, seguras y respetuosas. Se unieron a Carrie Boos, Coordinadora de Medios de CBES, para crear 'Help Kids Read', un club que se reúne antes de las clases por la mañana, invitando a estudiantes de kínder y primer grado a leer con ellos en la biblioteca. Su objetivo es ayudar a los estudiantes más pequeños a desarrollar sus habilidades de lectura, vocabulario y pasión por la lectura. También traducen libros para incluir a sus compañeros que hablan otros idiomas, ¡y crearon sus propios folletos y sitio web para promocionar su club!
