We are a faith based hybrid focusing on building independent learners and building good character. tudents themselves and their parents. They have the freedom to choose what they want to learn, how they want to learn it, and at what pace. Self-directed learning encourages independence, critical thinking, and a sense of ownership over one's education. We will have some homeschooling curriculum students can use. Character Building: Character building in education involves promoting positive qualities and virtues such as integrity, empathy, resilience, and responsibility. It aims to develop well-rounded individuals who not only excel academically but also demonstrate good values and ethics in their interactions and decision-making. Faith Focus: We incorporate elements of religious or spiritual teachings into our everyday activities. We are followers of Jesus and it is reflected in how we operate. Learning to Learn: This refers to teaching students how to learn effectively. It's about imparting skills like critical thinking, information evaluation, problem-solving, and metacognition (thinking about one's own thinking). Agapao Academy is a faith-focused homeschool hybrid in Carol Stream, IL, where we partner with homeschooling families through independent guided learning and hands-on group learning adventures. This session, our learners became engineers and explored the physics all around us!

Students dug into concepts like motion, forces, gravity, and energy through hands-on demonstrations and activities — including a tug of war to explore force in action. They then put their knowledge to the test by designing and building their own roller coasters out of paper and cardboard, testing and improving their designs along the way. Through it all, learners experienced the engineering process firsthand — creativity, perseverance, and problem-solving all rolled into one.

At our Celebration of Learning, students showed off their marble roller coasters in action for parents and family.

Still looking for a few middle schoolers for 2026–2027! 👋

One of the things homeschool families often tell us is that the middle school years are when community starts to matter even more. Their kid is independent enough to do the work — but they're craving connection, friendship, and a place where they belong alongside other kids.

That's one of the reasons we love what happens when middle schoolers join Agapao. We're a mixed-age community — K through 8th — and older kids naturally step into a leadership role just by being here. They're not the oldest in a peer group trying to impress each other. They're part of something with younger kids looking up to them, and that changes how they carry themselves.

It's a little like the one-room schoolhouse model, and it works. Middle schoolers get to grow up a little, take some responsibility, and still get the depth and challenge they need at their level.

If you're a homeschool family with a 6th, 7th, or 8th grader and you've been looking for the right community fit, we'd love to start a conversation. We like to get to know families before jumping in — usually a conversation and sometimes a shadow day — just to make sure it's a good match for everyone.

Hey middle school families! 👋

We're looking for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to join us at Agapao Academy Homeschool Hybrid for the 2026–2027 school year — and we'd love for yours to be one of them.

If your middle schooler is bored, burned out, or just not thriving in their current setup, a hybrid model might be exactly what they need. Small group. Real relationships. Applied learning.

Here's what that looks like at Agapao:

A quick heads-up about our process: we don't just take applications and hand out spots. We do a family interview and sometimes offer a shadow day so your student can see what a real day looks like — and so we can make sure it's a great fit on both sides.
