All Michigan families who are eligible for food assistance benefits are receiving an additional monthly payment in July in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 1.25 million people in close to 700,000 Michigan households will benefit under approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Services.

Eligible clients will see additional food assistance benefits on their Bridge Card by July 27. Additional benefits will be loaded onto Bridge Cards as a separate payment from the assistance that is provided earlier in the month. Eligible families do not need to re-apply to receive the additional benefits. Learn more at https://bit.ly/2WdUCAd.

Speech therapy is a marathon, not a sprint! Even if a child starts speaking soon after they start therapy, it’s likely they will still need support to catch up to their same aged peers ❤️

Family Fun in Vassar today!!

The treasure hunt is geared toward children in elementary or lower. Please keep the following information secret from the kids so they will have more fun solving the clues. The treasure hunt will involve some walking downtown. If you walk from the library and back it’s less than ¾ of a mile. You could also drive to the first and last clues (down and up the hill) and park downtown if you prefer. It will probably take about a half hour to complete. There are six stops total and each one has a clue to the next treasure. Four of the treasure chests are inside four different shops on one side of one block of M-15 (you will not have to walk across M-15).
If your group gets stuck on a clue, the answers will be stapled in the instructions for adults only. You can peak if needed and give hints to help your kids solve the puzzle. Have fun!

Dear Colleagues,

The Family Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (Family Center) is the statewide, parent-directed center within Children’s Special Health Care Services (CSHCS) and the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS). The mission of the Family Center is to support and connect Michigan families of children and youth with special health care needs, provide family-centered leadership throughout Michigan’s health care settings, and partner in the decision making process within the systems of care for children and youth with special health care needs.

The Family Center is excited to offer monthly Professional Connect Calls. We have a call scheduled for Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 3:00-4:00 pm EST. The topic for this call is Children’s Special Health Care Services (CSHCS) 101. Please join us as we host Kandace McConnell and Karrie Butler from CSHCS as they share a deeper understanding of the history, background and programming of CSHCS. This call will help you identify who may be eligible for CSHCS coverage, services available through the program and a Q & A at the end of the presentation.

We would appreciate you sharing our event flyer to help make the call a success.

Attached is the flyer and the link to register on Eventbrite is:

Absolutely! It starts with the parents and trickles down...Before focusing on your child's emotional intelligence, focus on your own.
