We are NOT medical professionals, but over the years of networking, meeting lupies, and becoming a sisterhood, we wonder if they're maybe something with having lupus and your child being autistic. Lupies, the truth about this post is lupus comes out when something traumatic or stressful is going on in your life, that can be giving birth, moving, or the death of a loved one, etc. Our founder was diagnosed when she was 15 years old, and at the time, she was dealing with the stress of starting a new school, working, dating, and being a teenager. The combination of all of those things plus genetics brought out lupus.

When was diagnosed, the doctors told her that she was too young to be diagnosed with lupus. She was always told it was rare for her to be so young living with lupus, which made her feel ashamed and embarrassed even to say to people she has lupus. We now know lupus can show up anytime and any age; it is not unheard of for children/teenagers to be diagnosed with lupus.

Diagnosed at just 15 with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and stage four lupus nephritis, Janay’s () story is a testament to resilience in the face of adversity. Lupus, a relentless autoimmune condition, wreaked havoc on her body, causing excruciating pain, inflammation, and numerous other complications.
‌
Navigating through the complexities of lupus, Janay encountered countless challenges. From multiple autoimmune illnesses to surgeries, dental loss, premature menopause, hair loss, and the daunting prospect of kidney transplant and dialysis, her journey has been a roller coaster of highs and lows.

Despite the immense difficulties, Janay refuses to succumb to despair. With unwavering determination, she fights tirelessly, refusing to let lupus define her. “I MAY HAVE LUPUS, BUT LUPUS DOESN’T HAVE ME!!” - her resilience shines as a beacon of hope for others facing similar battles.
