Head Start parents and caregivers know firsthand what helps children and families thrive.

Right now, the federal government is considering changes to the Head Start Program Performance Standards, the rules that help shape how Head Start programs operate and the services families receive.

Parents have an opportunity to speak up about what they want protected. Add your name to the national Parent Sign-On Letter and help make sure family voices are part of this conversation. Sign by September 30, 2026: https://nhsa.org/nprmresources/how-to-speak-up-for-head-start/

Thank you, Carnegie Public Schools Superintendent, Randy Turney, for making time to visit the Kiowa Tribe Head Start - Carnegie Center and reading to the children. Nugget & Fang: Friends Forever or Snack Time? is one of Mr. Turney’s favorite books. He even brought a special hat to wear for the occasion. His animation and the book’s illustrations brought the book to life as the children eagerly heard the story about the friendship between a small minnow and shark. A shark toy was given to every student, courtesy of Mr. Turney, to help them remember that they can be friends with others even if they are different. A signed banner created by the students was given to Mr. Turney as a thank you.
