A few of our Carnegie students were able to take a college tour of KU and Haskell Indian Nations University these past two days and we are so thankful for the opportunity provided to us through the educational partnerships with the Kiowa Education Agency & TEDNA-NYCP grant program. We gained alot of insight and information from both colleges and we look forward to sharing the information with the rest of our Carnegie students and we look forward to the ongoing collaboration with our educational partners so more of our students will get these experiences. This was my first time to attend an out-of-state college visit with students and it was a great experience for all of us.
Thank you to everyone involved that made this incredible experience happen! A huge THANK YOU to the KEA School Liaison, Miah Miller and OK-STEP Coordinator for providing us transportation to and from OKC to meet up with the rest of the TEDNA students and chaperones from surrounding schools. From there we had a charter bus transport us to Lawrence, Kansas. All expenses were paid for by TEDNA and the NYCP grant program. It was a great college visit to Haskell and the University of Kansas! Again, Thank you so much Kiowa Education Agency Department of Higher Education, OK State Tribal Education Partnership , TEDNA Native Youth Community Project and all individuals who made this possible for our students. Our J.O.M. Program hosted a luncheon for our graduates during their senior grad practice and the kids were so appreciative for the meal. We certainly enjoyed our time with them. Big thanks to our parent committee who decorated and got the things ready for the students. We are so proud of our seniors and wish them all the very best!! Mark your calendars, Carnegie Graduation is Friday, May 22 @ 7PM!
