Parents, we look forward to welcoming you to the Jesuit campus Tuesday evening for Back-to-School Night! This special evening is an opportunity to walk in your student's shoes, meet his teachers, learn more about classes, and gain insight into the academic and formative expereinces that will shape his year at Jesuit.

Whether you're new to the Marauder family or returning for another school year, BTS is one of the best ways to strengthen the partnership between home and school and see firsthand the people who support your son each day.

Details were emailed to parents earlier today on how to access your student's schedule. The Cove will also be open for shopping.

We can't wait to see you on campus!

A time for growth. ✝️ Last weekend, August 22-23, members of the Class of 2030 stepped away from the routines of daily life and came together for Freshman Retreat, an important milestone in their Jesuit journey.

Accompanied by their Big Brothers from the Class of 2027, freshmen spent the weekend building friendships, reflecting on their values, strengthening their connection to the Jesuit community, serving the community, and learning what it means to be part of an Ignatian spirituality that spans 500 years.

Parents too experienced some of the information on Jesuit Catholic formation.

This transformative experience was made possible through the dedication of our Grounds Crew, made up of juniors who worked behind the scenes throughout the weekend, and the incredible leadership of our Campus Ministry team, whose efforts created a welcoming environment for prayer, reflection, and community.

As they now move through their first high school semester, we hope these newest Marauders carry with them the sense of belonging and family that will support them throughout the next four years.

Welcome, Class of 2030.
You belong here.
And, your Jesuit journey is just beginning.

Come, Holy Spirit.

Last Friday, our Jesuit High School Sacramento community gathered for our annual Mass of the Holy Spirit, a tradition that marks the beginning of the academic year at Jesuit schools and universities around the world - across more than 3,700 Jesuit educational institutions in 80 countries.

This tradition is a powerful reminder that Jesuit High School Sacramento is part of a global mission far greater than ourselves as all students and educators begin their school year by seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

In his remarks, President Chris Alling reflected on the Ignatian call to magnanimity: having a great heart, pursuing great ideals, and approaching even the ordinary moments of daily life with purpose, generosity, and openness to God and others. He reminded us that the Holy Spirit continually invites us toward broader horizons, larger visions, and lives lived in service of something greater than ourselves.

As we begin this new school year, may we remain open to where the Spirit leads.

Something new is coming...

Later today, Jesuit High School Sacramento will unveil a new website designed to better serve our students, families, alumni, and friends while helping future Marauders discover all that Jesuit has to offer.

The redesigned site reflects who we are as a school today: rooted in the Jesuit tradition, committed to excellence, and inspired by innovation. With a fresh new look, enhanced storytelling, and an improved user experience, the site will showcase the people, programs, and experiences that make Jesuit such a special place.

The launch is just the beginning. We'll continue adding new stories, photography, videos, resources, and content in the days ahead as we tell the story of Jesuit High School Sacramento and the exciting future of our co-divisional model.

Stay tuned. We can't wait to share our new digital home with you.

Jennifer LaMaster
Executive Director, Jesuit Schools Network

Our Ignatian Voices series explores the people and ideas that bring Jesuit education to life.

This week, we feature Jennifer LaMaster, Executive Director of the Jesuit Schools Network, which supports nearly 90 Jesuit elementary, middle, and high schools across the United States and Canada.

LaMaster recently reflected on the enduring mission: helping young people grow in faith, justice, service, and academic excellence.

"At its best, Jesuit Catholic education forms students not only for success in the classroom, but for lives of purpose, compassion, leadership, and reconciliation with God, self, and others."

She emphasized one of the defining hallmarks: cura personalis, care for the whole person. For more than 500 years, since its founding by St. Ignatius, Jesuit schools have challenged students academically while also nurturing their intellectual, spiritual, moral, and social development, helping them discover and share their unique gifts with the world.

What makes LaMaster's perspective especially meaningful is that she is not only a leader in Jesuit education, but also the parent of Jesuit-educated children. Her personal and professional experience reflects what so many families here at our school and across the Network hope for their students: an education that goes beyond academics and prepares young people to lead lives of faith, service, and meaning.

As we begin a new school year and welcome prospective families exploring Jesuit High School Sacramento, she reminds us that the heart of a Jesuit education is helping students flourish and become the people they are called to be.

That lasting impact on our Marauders is what we call The Jesuit Effect.
