STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY
The faith community of Our Lady of the Assumption School is based on Catholic teachings as expressed through the message of the Gospel of Jesus. Students, in partnership with parents, teachers, staff, and the parish community, strive to grow and develop spiritually, morally, intellectually, personally, socially, physically, and culturally. Parents are recognized as the prim

ary educators of their children and teachers as the facilitators of learning. In addition to learning Catholic teachings, students within our faith community develop an awareness and practice of social justice and respond with opportunities for Christian outreach and service. As students are faced with growing challenges and complexities of life in the 21st century, they develop patterns of thought and behavior that bring forth age-appropriate Christian responses that will be based on Catholic ideals and the examples of Jesus Christ.

Parents, grandparents, guardians, etc. who choose to send their children/grandchildren/wards to a Catholic school agree, by their choice of the Catholic school, to support the faith formation and learning environment of the school. They also agree that their children will be fully involved in the religious formation and worship activities of the school. whose school-related conduct, in the eyes of the principal, does not support the development of “an environment permeated with the Gospel spirit of love and freedom” may be asked to withdraw their children from the Catholic school. Christian Brothers High School proudly announces that senior Alessandra Storm Mauricio has been selected to present her original research project, “Cancer Awareness in Teens: A Hybrid Cross-Sectional Survey and Informational Campaign,” at the prestigious International Cancer & Immuno-Oncology Conference, scheduled for March 2026 in Singapore.

Alessandra’s innovative project investigates gaps in cancer awareness among adolescents and proposes targeted strategies to enhance education and engagement. Her study, which combined the dissemination of cancer-related facts and trivia with a survey assessing teen awareness, was selected from numerous global submissions and will be featured in the conference’s research showcase.

“This opportunity means so much to me,” said Alessandra. “I’m passionate about making cancer education more accessible to teens and honored to represent my school as I share my findings with an international audience of physicians, scientists, and advocates. I’m thankful to the students and administrators at Christian Brothers High School whose support helped make this possible.”

The International Cancer & Immuno-Oncology Conference is a globally recognized event that convenes leading experts in oncology, immunology, and public health to explore cutting-edge research and collaborative solutions in the fight against cancer.

In addition to her upcoming presentation in Singapore, Alessandra’s research has also been accepted for a poster presentation at the 12th World Congress on Cancer Research and Therapy, to be held in Rome in June 2026.

Are you ready for school? We are getting ready at OLA! Today we had volunteers from our PTG helping with the distribution of school supplies. We also hosted a training for our new Spanish curriculum, led by the staff at Spanishcurriculum.com. This will be our curriculum for our new Spanish Program, and Maestra Carolina Gutierrez is here today and tomorrow for two full days of training along with other teachers across the country.

Looking forward to seeing everybody in August.
