Don't Settle...Strive
At first glance, the above statement could be interpreted to mean ...Don't ever be happy with where you're at....Always want more......Get a bigger piece of pie. But that is not really what I'm referring to. Because if that is our mindset, it is really hard to experience any level of happiness, beyond the occasional, brief thrill of a recent accomplishment.
I believe it's important to do our best to be happy in our current situation, while at the same time, being on the lookout for ways to improve it.
For example:
Don't settle for mediocre health....Strive towards being vibrantly healthy
Don't settle for a marginal relationships....Strive to make them great.
Don't settle for doing an okay job on your next project....Strive to make it something that you are proud of.
Don't settle with your current level of knowledge and understanding....Strive to learn more and grow more and do more
Don't settle for.....(well, you get the idea)
So my friends, I have one question for you. Are you settling or are you striving?
What dis-empowering old habits, routines or rituals can you eliminate from your life starting today? What new and empowering habits, routines and rituals can you replace them? Once you do this, you simple have to take care of the days, and the years will take care of themselves.
Let's be kind to one another.

I had a great time at. Lake Zurich Family Martial Arts today outside of Chicago. What a great group of instructors and I appreciate everyone making the trip.
Keep your vision strong, your purpose clear and your intent positive.
When you do this, your passion and conviction for a worthy cause will come through in all that you say and do...And your power to influence others for the good will be taken to a another level.
Remember, the human mind is easily influenced by anything spoken with conviction.
As much as we may not like hardship and challenge, it is one way that we can become stronger.
How we view our challenges and the actions that we take during challenging times will determine whether we grow or wither.
As Louisa May Alcott said “I’m not afraid of storms, for I am learning to sail my ship”
Are you learning to sail so that you can weather the storm’s? I believe that this is a better choice than just hiding in the port when the weather is rough.
What am I working on this week? Not passing judgement.
Not passing judgement doesn't mean that you are unaware or oblivious to those around you. You can still observe or perceive and then use that info to make educated action.
To me, not passing judgement means I avoid adding emotion, especially negative, to the situation.
Easy to say? Yes
Easy to do? No.
Worth the challenge? Absolutely.
Savor The Journey
If you are an aspiring person, chances are you are currently trying to get to the top of some mountain.
It’s great to have a worthy goal, but make sure that you take in the beautiful scenery as you make your way to the summit.
Do what you say you are going to do
We've probably all done it. ...Told ourselves that we were going to do something....and then later on we didn't do it. It almost happened to me just this morning. Last night, I told myself that I was getting up early to train, like I do every morning. Then, I didn't sleep very well. Fortunately I got up anyway. I was still tired, but I still went to the gym.
I try to remember that anytime I say I am going to do something and then I don't do it, I am weakening my self-discipline muscle. And every time I follow through with my commitments, I am strengthening my self-discipline muscle.
So what's the lesson here? For me, it's to remember that if I don't think I am going to be able to do something, then I shouldn't commit to do it. But....when I do commit to doing something, I have to make sure that I follow through.
Self-discipline comes from doing what you say you are going to do, even when you don't feel like doing it........Especially when you don't feel like doing it.
