Songbook Academy week is packed with rehearsals, workshops, masterclasses, and performances, but some of the best moments and lasting connections are created when everyone has a chance to slow down and have a little fun.

This year between sessions, students had the chance to recharge with therapy dogs from Paws and Think, enjoy lunch from a local food truck, explore the Songbook Library & Archives, spend time outdoors on Carter Green, and grab a surprise coffee from the Just Love Coffee Cafe - Carmel IN cart.

These moments to rest, reconnect, and make memories are just as much a part of the Songbook Academy experience as everything that happens onstage. A huge thank you to our Restorative Break Partner, Westfield Veterinary Care, for helping make these special moments possible this year!

Our Songbook Academy students felt right at home in Songbook City this summer! 🎶

Throughout July, special street signs across Carmel, Indiana, honored the legendary artists and songwriters who helped shape the Great American Songbook. During Songbook Academy Week, our students had the chance to stroll along streets named for musical icons like Irving Berlin and Nina Simone, the very artists whose music continues to inspire their own growth as performers and storytellers.

Songbook City made an unforgettable week feel even more special, and we’re so grateful to call a community that celebrates this music, and its next generation, home!

Looking for another opportunity to experience the incredible talent and timeless music that make Songbook Academy so special? Join us on Monday, December 21 for the Songbook Academy Sings the Songs of the Season, a festive cabaret-style concert filled with holiday cheer.

Generously supported by Traditions Senior Communities and Nick & Joni Hrisomalos & Family, this year's performance will once again take place at the Payne & Mencias Palladium. However, due to popular demand, seating will return to the venue's traditional orchestra-level configuration, allowing even more audience members to experience this unforgettable event.

The 2026 Songbook Academy has officially come to a close, and as our students head home and begin their next chapters, we're reflecting on an unforgettable final day.

Last night, at the Songbook Academy in Concert, all the students took the stage to showcase the results of an incredible week of hard work and growth.

From dynamic group medleys and unforgettable solo performances to powerful full-ensemble numbers, the concert was a true celebration of the next generation of performers and the Gold Standard of Storytelling found in the Great American Songbook.

To every one of our student performers, thank you for sharing your talent, passion, and heart with us this week. We are so proud of all you've accomplished and can't wait to see where your journeys take you next.

Yesterday was another exciting day at the 2026 Songbook Academy as our students made their final preparations for tonight's Songbook Academy in Concert!

Along with rehearsals for the big performance, students took part in elective workshops on auditioning and dance, explored the incredible Songbook Library & Archives, and capped off the day with one of Songbook Academy's favorite traditions: Mentor Performance Night, where faculty, alumni and guest mentors took the stage to perform.

The excitement has been building all week, and it all comes together tonight at 7 p.m. We can't wait to celebrate these incredible students and everything they've accomplished throughout the week!
