The whimsical and magical world of fairytale theatre encourages the exploration and development of childhood imagination, self-expression and confidence. Each week, we explore a variety of exercises that focus on voice, movement, and emotion in a safe and supportive environment. The last half o f class is performance-based, where each week a different classic fairytale (Cinderella, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty) is introduced. Students will choose their characters, dress in costumes provided and act out the story with the narration and direction of their coach. Parents are welcome to attend this portion of class and play the role of “the audience”. This is a wonderful way for children to develop trust in each other and their own creative abilities. Acting for the Camera (ages 16 and up)
This class works to re-create a professional casting room to give students the most realistic portrayal of the audition process as possible. Learning how to make bold and truthful emotional choices within the parameters of the camera lens, is the primary focus of this class. Other key class elements include script and character analysis. Students will work with audition material from current television and film scripts. Each student will perform their audition on camera after receiving time at the beginning of class to make choices on their material. After each audition, students will be given feedback, and rework the piece. Taped auditions will be made available to students after each class. This class is ideal for students who have prior acting training but are interested in expanding into film and television. Students new to acting are also welcome.
