Why I began teaching Music Makers at the Keyboard
I began teaching this curriculum 21 years ago in the hopes of finding an age-appropriate approach for my younger piano students. I often found that younger piano students struggled to stay involved and focused for the duration of their lesson and that their practice at home between lessons was difficult. I am happy to say that this innovative Musikgarten curriculum is exactly the teaching solution I was seeking. Students who have continued from the "Music Makers" class into private lessons have had tremendous success-- they have continued to learn and grow as musicians, and most importantly, continue to love making music. I am confident in recommending this class for young, new students, ages 5-7.

Why start piano lessons with "Music Makers at the Keyboard" classes?

"Music Makers at the Keyboard" is an innovative Musikgarten curriculum for groups of young beginners ages 5-7 years old. As such, it develops and uses age-appropriate musical activities, such as children's natural love of singing, dancing and drumming as the basis of an aural (by ear) approach to learning to play the piano and read music.

"Music Makers at the Keyboard" is back!!
After a year and a half hiatus for COVID, Musikgarten beginner keyboard classes will resume this coming fall, 2021. Classes are for 5-7 year olds.

We will be singing, dancing, drumming and playing the keyboard!
