๐ One of the most immediate changes has been below the surface.
๐งAs floodplain elevations were lowered, groundwater returned quickly to the ground surface creating wetter soils and supporting newly planted native vegetation.
๐ณ Restoration isnโt just about visible flow, but about sustaining habitat over time.

Wildlife presence is evident at Palo Corona Regional Park ๐พ
๐ฑ Mountain lion tracks and a documented sighting within the project area show that animals are actively moving through the Carmel River corridor, even during construction. These observations highlight how important healthy and connected habitats are for wide-ranging species to move through the region.
๐ฟ Earlier this year, the California Fish and Game Commission voted to list six groups of Central Coast and Southern California mountain lions as threatened under the California Endangered Species Act, finding they are at risk without intervention.
๐งก Protecting and maintaining connected habitat corridors helps support species like mountain lions as they navigate an increasingly fragmented landscape.
