Tasting Thai on Travel —We took ThaiIsFun on the road and landed at Kin Len – Thai Street Eats in North Park, and oh, it felt like home. 💛

Walking in feels like stepping straight into a Thai night market — vintage signs, retro snacks and toys, and that lively, communal energy we love. We ordered the Hat Yai chicken, pad kee mao, and ka na… bold, fresh, and full of soul. Street food done right! 🇹🇭

Traveling and eating Thai is my favorite kind of research. Every kitchen has a story, and this one made us smile. If you’re in San Diego, go say hi and eat well!

🌶️ Cayenne vs. Thai Chili — can you handle the heat? 🔥

Both bring spice, but they’re definitely not the same!

❤️ Cayenne has a warm, earthy heat that builds slowly—great for spice blends, soups, stews, and marinades.

💚 Thai chili is smaller but much fiercer, with a bright, fresh kick that’s perfect for stir-fries, curries, sauces, and nam prik.

Which one do you reach for more often—cayenne or Thai chili? 🌶️😋

A little Thai snack tour, all in one bite-sized adventure! 🇹🇭✨ Sweet tamarind, Thai caramel, crispy sweet rice cakes, mee krob, and dried banana — these are the treats I grew up snacking on in Chiang Mai. Sweet, crunchy, chewy, a little tangy… every one tells a story. Thai snacks I grew up on 🇹🇭 Which one are you trying first? 👇

• Sweet tamarind → Sweet, tangy, sticky — Thailand’s candy from the tree! 🌳
• Thai caramel → Golden coconut caramel, melt-in-your-mouth good. 🍮
• Sweet crispy rice cake → Puffed, crunchy, drizzled with sweetness. 🍚✨
• Mee krob → Crispy fried noodles, sweet-and-tangy glaze — SO addictive! 🍜
• Dried banana → Chewy, naturally sweet, sunshine in every bite. 🍌☀️

Purple bell pepper 🫑

I found these beautiful purple peppers at Elroy’s Fine Foods, and they immediately caught my eye! Their deep, glossy purple color makes them a fun and eye-catching addition to any dish.

Despite their dramatic appearance, purple bell peppers have a flavor similar to green bell peppers—crisp, fresh, and slightly earthy, with a hint of sweetness. As they fully ripen, they often become sweeter and may even turn red.

They’re packed with vitamins A and C, antioxidants, and fiber, making them as nutritious as they are beautiful. I love using them fresh in salads, sliced with dips, stuffed, stir-fried, or as a colorful garnish to brighten up a meal.

Sometimes the most exciting ingredient is simply one you’ve never noticed before. Cooking is always an adventure, and discovering colorful produce like this makes it even more fun!

💜🫑 Have you ever cooked with a purple bell pepper?

A birthday to remember, ThaiIsFun style! We gathered in beautiful Pebble Beach to celebrate with the best kind of party — one where the whole family rolls up their sleeves, laughs a lot, and cooks up a feast together.

Yes! a little friendly kitchen competition 😄, everyone became the chef of their own dish. The best gift of all? Sharing a table full of food you made with the people you love. ❤️

Ready to make your next celebration deliciously unforgettable? Let’s cook, laugh, and eat together!
