Our Intermediate class had a moo-velous time learning about farm animals with a hands-on cow-milking simulation activity! 🐄

Using gloves, water, and colorful paint, our students practiced the milking process and created their own pretend chocolate and strawberry milk! 🍫🥛🍓

It was a fun way to explore where milk comes from while building fine-motor skills, following directions, and enjoying some messy, sensory learning. What a udder-ly fun day!

🍂 Fall is in full swing at ! 🎃

Our toddlers have been busy investigating pumpkins and gourds of all shapes, sizes, and textures on their playground pumpkin patch!

While our Intermediate class is building foundational literacy skills with “fallen” leaves to practice their number and letter recognition.

We love seeing our little learners explore, discover, and grow through hands-on experiences!

A big thank-you to our wonderful City of Carlsbad Police Department for taking the time to visit and read to our students!

Learning how to write isn't just about picking up a pencil and paper! Today, our Intermediate class made letter learning extra fun by using shaving cream!

The children practiced forming letters with their fingers while enjoying a hands-on sensory experience. This simple activity supports early literacy, letter recognition, pre-writing skills, fine motor development, and hand-eye coordination—all while making learning playful and memorable!

Sensory activities like this give children the opportunity to explore, create, and learn through touch. And let’s be honest… sometimes the messiest activities make the best learning experiences!

A huge thank-you to our local fire department for joining us at Discovery Isle Preschool - Penasquitos this week during our fire safety lessons! 🚒🔥
Students learned about fire prevention, explored firefighting tools, and discovered what makes a firefighter’s uniform so special. The grand finale? Trying on shiny firefighter helmets and posing with our heroes! ❤️
We’re so grateful to our firefighters for protecting our community — and for inspiring our young learners!

At Discovery Isle, safety is always a top priority. On 10/16 at 10.16am, our students and staff will join schools across the state for the annual ShakeOut earthquake drill—an important opportunity to practice earthquake safety, review preparedness plans, and raise awareness.

This year’s ShakeOut also marks the 36th anniversary of the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, reminding us how vital it is to stay prepared and resilient. 🌎💪

Last week was extra sweet at Discovery Isle Carlsbad! In celebration of National Cooking Day, our little chefs made their own oatmeal cookies by measuring, mixing, and of course... tasting their creations. 🍪🧑‍🍳

Cooking in the classroom is not only fun, it also builds fine motor, math, and science skills while sparking curiosity and creativity. ✨
