🌟 Please Help Us Welcome Our Newest CPA Staff Members! 🌟

We are so excited to welcome Britnie Sanchez, Natalie Mackey, and Kristi Naylor to the Carlsbad Prep Academy family!

🍎Britnie Sanchez – Kindergarten Instructional Aide

This is Britnie’s first year working in education, and she has already found it to be a wonderful experience! She is a huge animal lover with 8 dogs and 2 cats and is currently enrolled at Southeastern New Mexico College (SENMC) as she works toward earning her teaching degree. Britnie is excited about the years ahead, and we are thrilled to have her joining our team!

🍎 Natalie Mackey – 1st Grade Teacher

Natalie earned her teaching degree from Western Governors University and brings 12 years of experience in education, including 10 years teaching in Wyoming before her family moved to Carlsbad two years ago.

Natalie is grateful to be part of a school community that aligns with her values and allows her the autonomy to do what she believes is best for her students. She believes every child is uniquely created by God and deserves to feel loved, valued, encouraged, and supported. Her classroom is rooted in kindness, grace, patience, joy, and a love for learning.

She is looking forward to partnering with families and making this a wonderful year filled with learning, growing, and special memories!

🍎Kristi Naylor – Jr. High Math Teacher

Kristi Naylor is our new Jr. High math teacher! Kristi is beginning her 32nd year in the classroom. After retiring for two years, she felt a calling to return because she knew she still had more to offer—and she quickly discovered that teaching really is like riding a bike!

Kristi says CPA is an amazing place to rejoin the workforce. She especially appreciates the small class sizes and the autonomy to control the pace and flow of her classroom, allowing her to better meet each student’s individual needs.

We are incredibly grateful to have these three wonderful educators joining our team. Their experience, passion, faith, and heart for students will be such a blessing to our school community!

Be on the lookout each week for our Watchmen on the Wall Weekly Bible Verse! 📖✨

We encourage you to take a few minutes each week to read the verse together as a family, talk about what it means, and challenge one another to memorize Scripture together.

What a beautiful opportunity to grow in God’s Word—not only as students, but as families! 🙏

As we partner together in raising and guiding our children, let’s be watchmen on the wall, standing strong in faith and helping point our students toward Christ and the path He has prepared for them.

Maxie has been a student at Carlsbad Prep Academy since 2021, where her favorite subjects are ELA and electives. She especially enjoys writing essays and is proud to have been named a regional finalist in the 2025 Daniel’s Fund National Civics Bee Essay Competition, as well as a runner-up in the 2026 Rotary 4-Way Essay Test.

During her time at CPA, Maxie has built meaningful friendships and strong relationships with her teachers. She serves as an ambassador for Ms. Klink and enjoys helping younger students.

Outside of school, Maxie is a talented baker, creative artist, and avid reader. She also enjoys listening to music and podcasts, watching movies and TV shows, and participating in sports such as tennis, pickleball, soccer, and Carlsbad Cavegirl Golf.

Maxie is also deeply involved in her church and values her strong faith. She enjoys reading the Bible, helping with VBS, volunteering at church events, and serving at Faith, Hope & Love. She is a caring big sister and shares a close bond with her family, especially her parents. Maxie also loves to travel and recently had the opportunity to visit Europe. One day, she hopes to visit Greece as well. This summer, she is excited to participate in the 8th Grade CPA trip to Washington, DC, and New York City.

Looking ahead, Maxie plans to attend Carlsbad High School Early College and hopes to become a nutritionist someday. She also dreams of living in Texas, Canada, or Spain someday. With her adventurous spirit, strong character, and enthusiasm for life, there is no doubt that Maxie has a bright future ahead. While everyone is excited to see where her journey leads, she will certainly be missed for her beautiful smile, willing attitude, and kind spirit!

Graycee has been a student at Carlsbad Prep Academy for the past three years, where her favorite subjects have been science and health, with a special interest in psychology. She currently serves as an ambassador for Mrs. Mitchell, a role that allows her to use her strong organizational skills. Of all her experiences at CPA, Graycee values the friendships she has built over the past several years. 

In her free time, Graycee enjoys reading psychological thrillers, playing the clarinet, cooking, and baking. She especially loves preparing generational family recipes passed down through the years. She especially excelled in her culinary arts elective, showcasing both creativity and talent in the “CPA Egg-Off” Culinary Arts Competition.

Graycee is most proud of her academic achievements, though her teachers, principal, and family recognize many other accomplishments that reflect her character and dedication. In 2025, she was named a finalist in the Daniel’s Fund National Civics Bee Competition and competed in the regional finals in Hobbs, New Mexico. This spring, she was a runner-up in the Rotary 4-Way Test Essay Competition.

Outside of school, Graycee faithfully volunteers in her community through the Faith, Hope & Love Foundation and Mission Carlsbad. She is also a trusted babysitter for many local families. Next year, Graycee plans to attend the Early College High School Program and hopes to pursue a future in forensic psychology.

Graycee’s favorite Bible verse is 2 Timothy 1:7: “God does not give a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” As she steps into the next season of her journey, those who know her best are confident she will continue to be guided by her faith, joyful spirit, and the unwavering support of her family and friends!
