We are so thankful to artist and story-teller, Tina Berrier, for choosing CALC as the space to house Modern Folklore, a contemporary survey of mythology. Tina has conducted this exhibition with a heroic sensitivity and thoughtfulness, we can't help but hold a similar pride in representing her artistry in our galleries. You all have proved a deep admiration for the work on the walls, and we hope you'll join us here in the building on October 17th at 1:30PM to hear directly from the artist about her thoughts on the show.

Today we are spotlighting our pottery instructor LeaAnne Goldrick. LeaAnne is one of our busiest clay teachers teaching Beginner and Intermediate Wheel, Teen Clay Club, and Teen Wheel Bootcamp. She also serves in our rotation of B**r & Clay teachers! LeaAnne is a 7th grade art teacher, so you are in great hands with her. Her next Beginner Wheel and Clay Club are coming up.

Just over two weeks left to apply for Double Vision! Like salt and pepper, some works of art just belong together. For this exhibition, we will explore the relationship between paired works of art. How do they relate to each other? What do they say together that would be missing if viewed individually?

CALC members interested in selling their artwork are invited to join us for special round-table session featuring discussion and guidance on navigating CALC’s member sales gallery and learn tips they can apply to selling beyond CALC’s doors. Join us on Wednesday, October 14th from 6PM-8PM in the G.B. Stuart Gallery for light refreshments and time to connect with your fellow CALC members before we begin our program for the evening. Our Gallery Director, Abria Donato will lead the session with assistance from our Sales Gallery and Membership Coordinator, Cole Miller. They will cover a wide range of topics including:

· Our new sales system and barcodes
· How to submit work to the sales gallery
· CALC’s Sales Patterns & Observations from the gallerists.
· Pricing
· Best practices for display, packaging, etc
· CALC’s off site opportunities
· And more

After a short presentation, the floor will be open for a question and answer style discussion.

Members will also have the chance to apply their new knowledge and drop off their pieces for Art for the Holidays. This time of year sees the highest volume of sales for our member artists. Members are encouraged to bring their submissions to the round table. After the session ends. Abria and Cole will stick around to provide members who bring in their work the opportunity to discuss their submissions and receive guidance through the intake process.

If you are a potter and haven't taken a class with Lana Heckendorn, you are missing out!!

Lana Heckendorn comes to CALC with a breadth of studio knowledge. She developed her functional porcelain work at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia and after spending 29 years there, and she moved back to Central PA. She makes pots in her studio right here in Carlisle, PA!

This class is the perfect opportunity to glean knowledge from Lana's years of experience. Refine your studio skills and add a few new techniques to your skill set. Designed for the intermediate student, this class will focus on creating your desired forms with intention. Using a variety of approaches to throwing specific forms, we’ll problem-solve with various techniques, and explore glazing and surface design. Students are welcome to bring their own throwing questions to the class for guidance.
