Still Flying LLC Advanced Flight Instruction I am also a FAST-qualified Formation Flight Lead & Instructor Pilot for the North American Trainer Association.

I'm a retired Naval Aviator, FAA-rated Airline Transport Pilot (ATP), Instrument Flight Instructor (CFII), and full-time captain in the Learjet 31 for a local Part 91/135 charter/medevac business. I love to fly, and I love teaching others to do so as well. If you're interested in advanced pilot qualifications -- light sport transition, tailwheel endorsement, CFI spin recovery, aerobatics, formation, etc. -- let me know how I can help you achieve your goals!

'Twas the night before Christmas all over the place,
When out of the hangar walked an old flying ace.
There was icing reported & turbulent air,
But he said, "File a flight plan, I gotta get there!”

Outside sat his aircraft all ready to run,
So the old man walked out to his P-51.
"Bad weather's no problem," he silently mumbled,
Then the prop came to life and the big Merlin rumbled.

He eased in the throttle — a roar shook the ground.
He taxied on out and he turned it around.
He went through the run-up and seemed satisfied.
Then he said to himself, "Boy I'm in for a ride."

So he lined it up straight as he poured on the coal,
And the tail came up as he started to roll.
Once off the runway, he sucked up the gear.
That mighty V-12 was all you could hear.

It screamed overhead with a deafening crack,
And blue flames were flying from each little stack.
"He pulled up the nose and started to climb,
No ice on that airframe — it didn't have time!

On top of the weather with the levers all set,
He looked up above him and saw a Learjet.
"They’re nice,” he thought, “with their speed and their glass,
But I’d rather fly pistons, props, and avgas!"

As he started approaching where he wanted to go,
The runway was covered with ice and with snow.
How would he land it? He couldn’t just guess,
So he decided to shoot a straight-in I-L-S.

At the outer marker, he started his run,
With the ceiling at mins, visibility one.
Still going three hundred, so he felt the need,
For a carrier break to diminish his speed.

Over the numbers he zoomed, along like a flash,
And rolled into his break; we just knew he would crash.
Oh, why do they do it on these kind of nights??
But then over the threshold, we saw landing lights!

"Santa, short final with three in the green,
I can see enough runway to land this machine."
Then he tied down that Mustang, and they all heard him say:
"Next year, I'm stickin' to my reindeer & sleigh!"
